KTBC Austin going live from Friday night high school football

Fox affiliate KTBC Austin, Texas, is hitting the road to celebrate the community spirit and local flavor that make Friday nights in Central Texas unique. Local fans will get to see their favorite high school football teams and their communities featured all day and night on Fox 7 News.

Fox 7 News in the Morning and Fox 7 News at Noon correspondent Tasha Martinez will report live during game day, covering local news and the events leading up to that evening’s excitement.  Additionally, reporter and weekend anchor, James Irby, will be reporting live on Fox 7 News at 5 and Fox 7 News at 9 from the games on Friday nights.

Leading up to each week’s big game, KTBC will feature each community in a promo that runs Saturday through Thursday. The week’s match-up is also featured as KASE-FM’s Game of the Week.  In addition to the station’s “Hometown Friday” community coverage, the KTBC sports team, lead by veteran local sportscaster Dave Cody, will cover all the key high school games around town. Fans can see highlights on Fox 7 News at 9 and catch an updated score report on KASE after the games are over.

“We’re taking our high school football coverage a step further.  Everyone covers the games, but at Fox 7 News we’re making a commitment to coverage all day, focusing on good news about the young people in our communities. This is a great way for us to get out there and connect with all the viewers in our area,” said Pam Vaught, KTBC news director.
