MERIL UPPED AT WARNER BROS. DOMESTIC

Rick Meril has been promoted to the lead station sales post--executive VP and general sales manager--by President Ken Werner.

Rick Meril has been promoted to EVP and general sales manager at Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, it was announced today by Ken Werner, the recently named president of WBDTD.

Meril, who had served as SVP at the syndication company since 1999, will oversee the distribution sales of TV shows and feature films from Warner Bros. Television, Telepictures Productions, Warner Horizon Television, Warner Bros. Pictures and Turner Entertainment.

Meril will also oversee the day-to-day operations of WBDTD’s administration, research, marketing, creative services, programming and new business development teams.

Werner credited Meril with leading the “extremely successful” sale of Two and an Half Men.

Prior to joining Warner Bros., Meril spent 16 years at Cox Broadcasting, most recently as EVP and general sales manager of TV syndication for Cox’s Rysher Television. 

Before Cox, Meril served as a local sales manager for Belo’s WFAA Dallas-Ft. Worth and as an account executive at Petry Television.
