Front Porch Digital commits to new SMPTE archive standards

Broadcast archive management firm Front Porch Digital today confirmed it will adopt the new SMPTE standard for digital archive management, as soon as it is approved.

For the past several months the company has dedicated its senior technical experts to work with the SMPTE V16 Archive Ad Hoc Group (AHG) initiative. Front Porch also has been sharing lessons learned from its prior experience managing the migration of proprietary legacy archives to its own DIVArchive system.

“Front Porch Digital is supporting the SMPTE archive standards initiative for one simple reason: It is in the best interest of our customers,” said Front Porch President and CEO Mike Knaisch. “We guarantee that when new standards are developed and approved by SMPTE, our DIVArchive application will be adapted to comply as quickly as possible. We know this is what our customers expect from the global leader in broadcast archive management, and it is a responsibility we intend to live up to.”

Leading participation in the Ad Hoc Group will be Front Porch CTO Brian Campanotti. Front Porch will also involve Rino Petricola, senior vice president and general manager of Front Porch Digital International, who has led the global deployment of DIVArchive. These experts and other senior members of the Front Porch engineering team will be available to the Ad Hoc Group as necessary to assist in the achievement of its goals.
