Western Kentucky University selects Chyron’s HX200 for WKYU

Western Kentucky University (WKU), has purchased an Chyron Corp. HX200 HD/SD-switchable graphics system. The HX200 is housed in the studio control room of WKU’s WKYU, a PBS affiliate that serves the south central Kentucky region.

Following installation of the HX200 in September, WKU has already produced four episodes of its live-to-tape public affairs program, Outlook with Barbara Deeb, and 2006 Election Forums featuring candidates for local and state races, broadcast live. Already a Chyron customer, WKYU uses an LEX graphics system in its mobile broadcast unit.

Jack Hanes, director of public broadcasting commented, “Chyron is the industry standard and that gives students the best experience for the future. Once we fully covert to high-definition television, we will utilize the HX200 for all studio taped and live production graphic elements.”

Kevin Prince, Chyron’s chief operating officer, commented: “The HX200 allows students to become acquainted with a broadcast graphics system that is used by major broadcasters worldwide. We are delighted that WKU has chosen Chyron for its production installation and look forward to seeing the HD capabilities utilized in the future.”
