Aspen broadcaster selects Chyron for graphics suite

Chyron Corp. has installed its  MicroX graphics system and DynaCrawl data display system at KCXP-LP Aspen, Colo. The installation was carried out by Chyron partner Waymo Engineering.

The DynaCrawl data display system is the last piece of equipment in KCXP-LP’s loop before the signal hits the RF modulator at the Comcast head-end. The crawl, which is on almost all of the time, with time, temperature and an animated station ID bug, is updated and controlled remotely from the KCXP studios and offices in downtown Aspen.

The MicroX graphics system, which forms part of KCXP-LP’s live production system, was purchased following the station’s success with DynaCrawl, it said. The MicroX’s flexibility allows KCXP-LP’s graphic artists to import and export numerous standard file types, and automatic aspect ratio conversion. The system’s familiar timeline-based animations and drag-and-drop scene building emulates the leading nonlinear editing applications.

Following a close partnership between Waymo Engineering and KCXP-LP’s station owner Marcos Rodriguez, the DynaCrawl proved to be the most versatile and elegant solution tested. Rodriguez commented: “We are very happy with the Chyron systems. The DynaCrawl interface is intuitive and easy to use and the image is second to none.”
