Information we collect about you

We collect information about you when you sign up for a membership, subscribe to our newsletters, buy a job posting or register for a live or virtual event we produce.

If you purchase a subscription, job posting or access to a webinar, we collect payment and billing information via secure payment processing services.

We may also collect a minimal amount of information if you submit a request to [email protected].

You may update your email preferences and other settings and you may access and update your subscription payment details by logging into the site and clicking on Member Home.

If you have any issues interacting with your Member Home page, please contact the publisher, Kathy Haley, 484-412-8297.

TVNewsCheck.com collects non-personally identifiable information about its audience such as devices readers connect on, language preference, referring sites, URLs of entrance and exit pages, browser type, duration of visit. This helps us understand how our audience uses the site and inspires ideas for improving it.

TVNewsCheck also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. TVNewsCheck does not use IP addresses to identify its visitors, however, and does not disclose such information, other than under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information, as described below.

Cookies

TVNewsCheck uses cookies to track whether you are logged in or out as a member, so we can provide access to different levels (free / premium) of editorial content and allow you to post comments to stories.

To opt-out of our use of cookies, you can update your browser options, telling it to stop accepting cookies or to prompt you before accepting a cookie from websites you visit. If you do not accept cookies, TVNewsCheck.com will not be able to tell if you are logged in and so will not be able to provide you access to premium content, our Member Home page or the ability to comment on a story using either your own name or a Display Name that you type in.

How we use information we collect

As a business-to-business publishing company, TVNewsCheck aggregates non-identifiable information about its subscribers so that we will understand the kinds of readers we reach. This can be used to sell targeted advertising or to target promotional emails or emails we send on behalf of our advertisers. We also target email invitations to register for our events and occasional webinars.

You may update the information we have stored about you, including your email preferences, by logging into the site and clicking on Member Home.

TVNewsCheck does not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone.

Questions? Please don’t hesitate to contact the publisher, Kathy Haley, 484-412-8297.

For EEA Users

If you live and/or work in the European Economic Area (EEA), we collect and process information about you only where we have legal basis for doing so under applicable EU laws. The legal basis depends on the subscriptions you buy and how you use them. This means we collect and use your information only where:

  • We need it to provide you premium content, provide customer support and to protect the safety and security of our services.
  • It satisfies a legitimate interest (which is not overridden by your data protection interests), such as to market and promote our services, for research and development and to protect our legal rights and interests;
  • You give us consent to do so for a specific purpose; or we need to process your data to comply with a legal obligation.

If you have consented to our use of information about you for a specific purpose, you have the right to change your mind at any time, but this will not affect any processing that has already taken place. Where we are using your information because we or a third-party (e.g. your employer) have a legitimate interest to do so, you have the right to object to that use though, in some cases, this may mean you no longer will have access to our premium content.

Sharing with Third Parties

Service Providers: TVNewsCheck may need to access your information when we work with our web development and maintenance partner, particularly if they are enhancing or maintaining our e-commerce or subscriber membership platform. Your password is encrypted and cannot be accessed by web developers, and the developers work under close instruction from us and are aware of policies and procedures to protect your information.

Links to Third Party Sites: TVNewsCheck links to stories we believe are of interest to our readers and that reside on other publishers’ sites. Please be aware when you connect to another publisher’s site that their privacy policy, and not ours, governs their use of your data if they collect it.

Third-Party Widgets: TVNewsCheck uses widgets and social media tools provided by third parties. These widgets and tools may collect your IP address, which page you are visiting and may set a cookie to enable the feature to function properly. Your interactions with these features are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing it.

Information storage and security

We use data hosting service providers in the U.S. to host the information we collect, and we use technical measures to secure your data. While we implement safeguards designed to protect your information, no security system is impenetrable and due to the inherent nature of the Internet, we cannot guarantee that data, during transmission through the Internet or while stored on our systems or otherwise in our care, is absolutely safe from intrusion by others.

How long we keep information

We retain your membership information for as long as your membership is active and a reasonable period thereafter in case you decide to re-activate it. We also retain some of your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, to resolve disputes, to enforce our agreements, to support business operations, and to continue to develop and improve TVNewsCheck.

Marketing information: If you have elected to receive marketing emails from us, we retain information about your marketing preferences for a reasonable period of time from the date you last expressed interest in our services, such as when you last opened an email from us or ceased using your TVNewsCheck membership.

If you have any questions about why and how you are receiving marketing emails from TVNewsCheck, please contact the publisher, Kathy Haley, 484-412-8297.

Rights in relation to your information

You may have certain rights under data protection law in relation to the personal information we hold about you. In particular, you may have a right to:

  • request a copy of personal information we hold about you;
  • ask that we update the personal information we hold about you, or independently correct such personal information that you think is incorrect or incomplete;
  • ask that we delete personal information that we hold about you from live systems, or restrict the way in which we use such personal information (for information on deletion from archives, see the “Retention of personal information” section);
  • object to our processing of your personal information; and/or
  • withdraw your consent to our processing of your personal information (to the extent such processing is based on consent and consent is the only permissible basis for processing).

If you would like to exercise these rights or understand if these rights apply to you, please contact the publisher, Kathy Haley, 484-412-8297.
