Vizrt will unveil a new version of Viz|Multi-Platform Suite (MPS), the company’s end-to-end platform that delivers real-time graphics and video content to internet browsers and mobile devices, at the NAB convention in Las Vegas. While most solutions embed graphics within the video stream, resulting in lower resolution and non-personalized content, Viz|MPS keeps the graphic and video content disassociated until the last minute. Compositing of video and graphics happens directly on the viewer’s display, with real-time, 3D graphics rendered locally by each platform (phone or PC). This creates the highest quality graphic resolution and content that is both platform and user specific.
Because Viz|MPS is fully integrated within the Vizrt product suite, a station’s production workflow is unchanged, but content can now be distributed directly to any platform ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬” PC or phone. The graphics operator simply presses take, and the Viz|MPS server defines which graphic content to distribute to which client.
“The integration between Viz|MPS and web browsers is critical to broadcasters looking to deliver their content to PC’s as well as mobile devices,” explained Peder Drege, CEO of Adactus. “Due to the seamless operation Vizrt’s created for broadcasters, they now have a powerful and easy-to-use pipeline to repurpose video and graphic content to serve both PC and mobile device viewers in a highly personalized way.”
At its NAB booth, Vizrt will demonstrate the integration within the Vizrt broadcast production environment where graphics can be produced in the Viz|Trio graphics workstation and distributed via the Viz|MPS server to mobile phones and PC’s. Viz|Trio operators can now distribute the graphics they’ve created in standard definition (SD), high definition (HD), and the various ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‹Å“phone definitions’ in order to meet the technical display requirements of multiple markets simultaneously.
Vizrt’s Viz|Engine renderer provides real-time, hardware-accelerated graphics on the client platform, enabling the customization, localization, and personalization of targeted advertising placements. Broadcasters can create high-quality advertisements with specific targeted demographics ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬” creating new revenue models. An optimized server assures that only a limited amount of graphics are sent and that the most adapted video is streamed or pushed.
When it debuted at NAB 2006, Viz|MPS marked the first integration of a graphics engine for mobile phone video viewing applications. Viz|MPS is available as part of a package installed on phones, or it may be downloaded and installed. Viz|MPS is based on Vizrt’s Viz|Engine renderer and Adactus’ MPEG-21 standards-based multimedia delivery platform. Norwegian developer Adactus is now owned in part by Vizrt. Adactus specializes in the transport of content to mobile phone platforms. Using its MPEG21-based platform, Adactus can detect and exchange the capabilities of each mobile phone, such as screen resolution, so that the content provider can deliver content adapted for each recipient.
