IFB800 Time Code/IFB Transmitter
This new, patent pending system transmits time code, IFB audio and remote control commands to the Zaxcom TRX/ZFR product lines already in use by television broadcasters; theater, concert and presentation sound crews; and other audio professionals worldwide. The IFB800 transmits time code to synchronize the internal recording of a wireless TRX/ZFR unit to match the camera or other recording device. Once the unit receives the IFB800’s time code transmission, the system’s built-in time code generator jams to the external signal. The IFB800 also can be used as a remote control to make adjustments to the TRX/ZFR without interfering with the user’s body pack.
TRX700 Recording Plug-On Recording Transmitter
The TRX700 is a “plug-on transmitter/recorder” designed for use with the shotgun-type microphones commonly used in boom pole or ENG applications. The TRX700 provides a patent-pending feature set, including a removable miniSD card that will record up to 12 hours of time code-referenced audio. The TRX700 uses 100% digital modulation, which eliminates the distortion effects of companders, FM modulation, pilot tones, antenna diversity switching and RF interference that degrade the quality of all other broadcast wireless systems.
STA100 Stereo Adaptor
First announced at IBC2006, the new STA100 stereo adaptor for Zaxcom’s ZFR100 and TRX900/900AA is now shipping. The new stereo adaptor integrates with the ZFR/TRX to provide a balanced stereo audio input that eliminates ground loop problems. The adaptor’s dedicated time code input synchronizes the time code generator inside the ZFR/TRX and supports automated loading of audio onto the memory card. This enables an exact match of audio recorded on the ZFR or TRX and audio/video recorded on camera. This new interface also features a time code/audio out connector that can be used as an audio monitor for playback from the memory card, or as a time code output to jam other devices. The Zaxcom ZFR100 can record up to eight track-hours of audio on a removable 2-GB flash memory card; the TRX900/900AA can record up to 12 hours. When paired with the TRX900AA, the STA100 adaptor creates the ultimate sound bag-to-camera link.
TRX800 and ZFR800 Handheld Wireless Recording Systems
First announced in late 2006, Zaxcom’s ZFR800 handheld wireless recorder and TRX800 handheld wireless microphone with internal recording are now making their NAB debut. Designed for use in broadcast, studio, theater, and ENG applications, these systems provide internal recording capabilities for applications where sound quality and mobility are equally important. The patent-pending TRX800 handheld is the only professional wireless microphone to use digital modulation and is the first handheld microphone to produce a time code-referenced recording that serves as a back-up. This automatic back-up recording can be especially crucial in live or live-to-tape applications where wireless transmission is affected by interference or limitations in the available frequencies. Unlike other handheld microphones, which use a compander or audio processing that colors the audio, the TRX800 and ZFR800 offer audio quality equivalent to AES audio on a hard-wired cable.
TRX900 and TRX990 Digital Wireless Microphone Transceivers
Zaxcom says its TRX900 and TRX990 digital wireless microphone transceivers are the industry’s first wireless microphones with internal IFB, integrated audio recording, and time code transmission. This patent-pending feature set allows audio professionals to record up to 12 hours of audio directly to a flash memory card and then transfer the .wav files to either a PC or Macintosh for post-production. The TRX900 system is designed for use primarily with a lavaliere microphone. Zaxcom’s TRX990, with integrated phantom power, is engineered as a complete solution for wireless boom, parabolic microphones, and a two-channel ENG bag-to-camera link.
TRX900AA Digital Wireless Microphone Transceiver
Based on the patent-pending technology of Zaxcom’s TRX900 wireless microphone system, the TRX900AA transmitter was developed for users who need a longer running time and prefer the convenience of using AA batteries. The system operates on two AA batteries to provide a 10-hour run time and 12-hour internal recording capability, with audio that is indistinguishable from that of a hard-wire connection. With the addition of Zaxcom’s new STA100, the TRX900AA is ideally suited for a sound bag-to-camera link in ENG applications.
ZFR100 Miniature Audio Recorder
Zaxcom’s ZFR100 broadcast-quality recorder can record up to eight track-hours of audio on a removable 2-GB flash memory card. Equally suited for use as a backup recorder or as a transcription recorder, the ZFR100 produces time code-stamped .BWF (Broadcast Wave Format) or .ZTF (Zaxcom Transcription Format) files. With a full-featured time code reader/generator, it will maintain perfect time code synchronization with recorded video. The recorder weighs about four ounces and can be powered for up to 20 hours with two AA batteries. An optional 8 to 16V DC power input is also available.
Deva Hard Disk Recorders and Mix-12 Control Surface
Zaxcom also will display its Deva IV and V hard disk recorders that provide direct to hard disk recording with backup to DVD. This multidisk, multiformat recording capability allows users to record simultaneously all of the copies required for post-production, potentially saving hours of time otherwise spent dubbing the original recording into various formats. Deva is now available with the Mix-12 control surface for mixing and monitoring, eliminating the need for expensive external mixing boards.
