He will oversee Cox Media Group’s Boston, Charlotte, Memphis and Seattle TV markets, in addition to Pittsburgh.
Cox Media Group (CMG) today promoted Ray Carter, currently CMG Pittsburgh’s VP-GM, to CMG’s regional VP for television, reporting to EVP Jane Williams. He will oversee CMG’s Boston, Charlotte, Memphis and Seattle TV markets, in addition to Pittsburgh.
In addition, CMG named Rob Babin, currently CMG Miami Radio’s VP-GM, as CMG’s new regional VP for radio, reporting to Executive VP Bill Hendrich. Babin will oversee CMG’s Houston, Long Island, San Antonio and Tampa Radio markets, in addition to Miami.

As VP-GM Ray has led WPXI-TV to historical ratings and revenue heights. Carter, a 30-year broadcast veteran, joined CMG and WPXI, its NBC affiliate in Pittsburgh, as a GM in 2001. Before then, he was the executive in charge of local news in several different media markets. Throughout his career, Carter also has worked as the news director of local news operations in many markets, including Des Moines, Salt Lake City and Atlanta.
