The 27-year TV veteran will oversee ABC affiliate WPDE and CW affil WWMB in South Carolina.
Sinclair Broadcast Group has appointed William Ballard general manager of ABC affiliate WPDE Myrtle Beach/Florence, S.C. (DMA 101). He will also be responsible for the oversight of Sinclair’s provision of services to the market’s CW affiliate, WWMB.
In making the announcement, Steve Marks, EVP and COO of Sinclair’s television group, said: “Having served in a variety of management and sales roles throughout the television industry over the course of his career, Bill is well prepared to work with the teams at WPDE and WWMB to make an impact on the community, our viewers, advertisers and the stations.”
Ballard has more than 27 years’ experience in broadcast television, most recently as a founder-owner of a start-up company. Prior to that, he was president and general manager of WIAT Birmingham, Ala., and has been a general manager at stations in various cities since 1994, including Miami, Philadelphia and Raleigh, N.C., as well as serving as a broadcasting consultant.
Prior to that, he held various sales roles since 1986.
Ballard studied political science at Western Illinois University and graduate studies in international relations.
