It’s purchasing the spectrum of WDLI Cleveland, WSFJ Columbus, Ohio, WCLJ Indianapolis and WKOI Dayton, Ohio, but doesn’t reveal the price.
Ion Media has exercised an option with Trinity Broadcasting to buy the spectrum of four so-called zombie stations — WDLI Cleveland (DMA 19); WSFJ Columbus, Ohio (34); WCLJ Indianapolis (28); and WKOI Dayton, Ohio (64), according an FCC filing.
Normally, transfer applications include the price being paid for the stations. But, in this case, Trinity says it is withholding the price and a lot of other information in the November 2017 option agreement because it is “proprietary, not germane to the FCC’s evaluation of the application, or already in the FCC’s possession.”
Zombies are stations that sold their spectrum in the FCC incentive auction last year, but retained their licenses, which are valuable because they include must-carry rights.
