Association honors the best in local journalism with 587 awards to 280 TV and radio stations.
The Radio-Television News Directors Association announced the 2007 regional winners of the Edward R. Murrow Awards for excellence in electronic journalism.
RTNDA received 3,150 regional entries. Judges gave 587 awards to 280 stations in 14 categories, including overall excellence, spot news, continuing coverage and investigative reporting, among others.
The highest number of Murrows given to a television station is seven, awarded to KMBC Kansas City, Mo. Other television stations receiving multiple awards are:
- WCAX Burlington, Vt. (6)
- KARE Minneapolis (6)

RTNDA has been honoring outstanding achievement in electronic journalism with the Murrow Awards since 1971. Radio and television news managers from markets across the country judged the entries earlier this month.
Regional winners automatically become eligible for the national awards competition, which will be judged in early June. The national Edward R. Murrow Awards will be presented in October at the RTNDA Awards Dinner in New York.
