SALE OF KPNZ SALT LAKE CITY GETS FCC BLESSING

Spanish-language Liberman Broadcasting has agreed to buy the independent station from Utah Communications for $10 million. Utah has no other broadcast interests.

The FCC has given Utah Communications permission to proceed with the sale of its sole station, KPNZ Salt Lake City (DMA 35), to Liberman Broadcasting Inc. for $10 million.

Utah now operates KPNZ as an English-language independent, but that could change with the sale.

Upon closing, KPNZ will become the fourth full-power TV station in the Liberman portfolio.

It also owns KRCA Los Angeles (DMA 2), KMPX Dallas (DMA 5) and KZJL Houston DMA 10). All three offer Spanish-language programming.

Liberman’s broadcast holdings also include Spanish-language radio stations in California and Texas.
