WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

Games Finish Neck And Neck And Neck

The competition gets red hot as Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud and Jeopardy all turn in 5.9 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen ratings in the week ending Oct. 7.

The session ending Oct. 7 featured an extremely rare event — a three-way tie at the top of the game shows among Wheel of Fortune, the surprise winner of the previous round; usual leader Family Feud; and Jeopardy. All three strips battled to a 5.9 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, with Feud and Jeopardy inching up 2% from the prior contest, and Wheel staying flat.

Still, the three were outgunned by syndication champion Judge Judy, which snagged top household ratings honors on the entire chart for the 10th straight week with a 6.7, while climbing 3% from last year.

Elsewhere, Dr. Phil, one of many strips in daytime and access dinged by preemptions for Kavanaugh nomination coverage and viewers shifting to cable news, was off a tad, dipping 3% to a 2.8. Nevertheless, Phil had no trouble leading the talkers for the 109th straight week.

Live with Kelly and Ryan was a serious force with a new season high 2.2 in second place, while Ellen DeGeneres was unchanged at a 2.0 in third.

Also notable was Steve Harvey’s Steve, which jumped into the top four in talk for the first time this season with an 8% surge to a 1.3, tying Maury, which slipped 7% to a 1.3.

Among magazines, the biggest percentage gainers were Daily Mail TV, which grew 11% to a 1.0, and Access, which earned its best score of the season, hitting a 20-week high with an 8% advance to tie TMZ at a 1.3. TMZ also added 8%.
