TV Group Leaders To Highlight TV2020

Executives from Nexstar, Gray, E.W. Scripps and Meredith will weigh in on key issues facing broadcast from regulation to retrans as well as reviewing the outlook on monetizing TV’s future.

Top executives from four TV station groups will survey the state of the TV broadcast business and its revenue growth opportunities at TVNewsCheck’s fourth annual TV2020: Monetizing the Future in New York.

Perry Sook, chairman, president and CEO of Nexstar Media Group; Pat LaPlatney, president, co-CEO and director of Gray Television; Brian Lawlor, president of local media for The E.W. Scripps Company; and Patrick McCreery, president, Meredith Local Media Group, will join Harry Jessell, TVNewsCheck’s editor and co-founder, for a panel discussion at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at New York’s Javits Center.

“Our four station group leaders will be able to provide deep insight into the local TV broadcasting business, representing as they do some 300 full-power TV stations with nearly $8 billion in combined annual revenue,” Jessell said. “The big question: How do you grow current revenue streams — spot advertising, retrans and digital — while tapping into some new ones in the face of ever-growing competition?”

Sook, LaPlatney, Lawlor and McCreery will tackle regulatory issues, cable and digital competition and network-affiliate relations as well in the wide-ranging discussion.

TV2020: Monetizing the Future is presented at NAB Show New York. This year’s conference will examine a range of issues facing the broadcasting industry, including advanced advertising and ad technology, diversifying revenue streams, the changing world of sports broadcasting and the business impact of TV’s transition to IP and the cloud.
