Syncbak, Heritage Partner On OTT Live Event
Local broadcast streaming company Syncbak said Friday it would host a straight-to-OTT live local event powered by Heritage Broadcasting Group on its direct-to-consumer SBTV app. This weekend’s event follows the station group’s inaugural straight-to-OTT program in August when MISportsNow streamed the 31st Annual Wood-Tic dirt track race live from Merritt Speedway exclusively on SBTV.
“OTT is the great equalizer,” said Kevin Dunaway, VP and GM at Heritage. “Straight-to-OTT content is a big focus for us right now. Taking local events straight-to-OTT gives our in-market viewers more to watch, attracts out-of-market viewers to programming that has nationwide interest and gives our advertisers more options.
“We believe OTT plays an important role in the future of local television and we’re excited to be on the forefront,” Dunaway said.
“Kevin Dunaway is as forward a thinker as we have in the industry today,” said Jack Perry, founder and CEO at Syncbak. “The team at Heritage is taking full advantage of OTT in a big way, giving their viewers more to watch on whatever device they choose.”
This weekend’s event, MISportsNow breakdown of the high school football playoff pairings, can be viewed live on SBTV this Sunday October 27th at 8:30pm ET.
