‘Kelly And Ryan’ Stay On Top Of Talk

It was able to hold onto its category lead during the week ending April 26, while many first-run shows posted declines.

Live with Kelly and Ryan was first-run syndication’s sole category leader to hold its ground, easily topping the talkers for the fifth week in a row in the session ending April 26. The morning show dynamo clocked a powerful 2.2 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating to buck a general downdraft.

Meanwhile, numerous other talk shows repeatedly lost all or part of their primary runs due to news coverage of the COVID-19 outbreak throughout the week and suffered rating declines.

Dr. Phil, the No. 1 program in the genre season to date, backed off 10% to a 1.8, and third-place Ellen DeGeneres declined 11% to a 1.7.

Daytime leader Judge Judy ran away from the field in the daypart with a commanding 6.1 even though it aired reruns for most of the week.

Also of note, Hot Bench was the third-highest-rated show in daytime with a steady 2.1, only one-tenth of a point behind Kelly and Ryan despite being in repeats on all five days.
