Bounce-Back Week For ‘Kelly Clarkson’

In the week ending June 14, the freahman talker jumps 25% even though it was in reruns for four days.

Some of the closely watched daytime shows saw a rebound in the session ending June 14, most notably Kelly Carkson, which surged 25% from the prior frame — the most of any program in syndication — to a 1.0 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating. The climb was even more impressive, since Clarkson, the season’s rookie leader by a large margin, was in reruns on four of the five days.

Among the veteran talkers, Live with Kelly and Ryan, which has been No. 1 nine times in the past 12 weeks, again seized the top spot despite dipping 5% to a 1.9.

Dr. Phil jumped 20% to a 1.8, closing a huge gap and finishing a close second even though it was in repeats all week.

Further back, Ellen DeGeneres delivered a 1.2, staying at its series low for the second week in a row, but Maury moved up 10% to a 1.1.

Daytime’s highest rated program was killer court show Judge Judy, which dipped 2% toa 5.3 and easily topped the gavelers for an epic 1,238th consecutive week, even with encore episodes every day.

Judy’s creation Hot Bench also came up big, belting out a 5% increase to a 2.0 to finish as daytime’s second highest rated show behind only Judy.

Elsewhere, all of the seven magazines were lower except for Daily Mail TV which shot up 33% in the key women 25-54 demo and held its ground at a 0.8 in households to move into a tie with Extra.

The week’s top-rated daytime talk shows in the women 25-54 demo were:

  • Live with Kelly and Ryan (0.8, -11% from the week before)
  • Dr. Phil (0.7, +17%
  • Maury (0.6, unchanged)
  • Ellen DeGeneres (0.5, unchanged), tied with Steve Wilkos (0.5, +25%)
