Programming For Elections At OTT News Summit
Content executives from an array of leading news organizations involved in streaming will discuss their approaches to programming the historic 2020 election in a panel discussion at TVNewsCheck’s OTT News Summit.
The panel, 2020 Election: OTT’s Programming Opportunities, will feature Katie den Daas, executive producer, ABC News Live; Glen Hale, of digital content and audience development, Gray Television; Socrates Lozano, senior director, OTT content, the E.W, Scripps Co.; Andy Serwer, editor-in-chief, Yahoo Finance; and Mike Toppo, VP of global video programming, CNN. The panel, which will be moderated by TVNewsCheck Editor Michael Depp, will be at 1 p.m. ET on Sept. 23.
“OTT affords an incredible opportunity in the 2020 election season for news organizations with a streaming channel,” Depp said. “Streaming offers them much more space to expand their coverage and convey crucial information on candidates, voting and polling places in a pandemic year. Katie, Glen, Socrates, Andy and Mike are working directly on such programming and showing the industry what a vital asset OTT can be in this coverage.”
TVNewsCheck’s virtualized edition of its second annual OTT News Summit will run Sept. 22-25, engaging the pandemic’s impact on the streaming value chain and how news organizations can take advantage of new opportunities in content, technology and monetization.
Attendees will participate in the live, daily, two-and-a-half-hour streamed sessions on Zoom Webinar, where they can pose questions to speakers, participate in live audience polling and wrap up the day with half-hour, open-mic roundtables on key issues.
Before, during and after the conference, attendees may also network, submit suggested questions for speakers, chat about issues, browse virtual exhibits and set appointments with sponsors by downloading the TVNewsCheck Events app from the Apple or Android stores. App users who have registered for the OTT News Summit also have the option of watching the programming’s live stream on the app.
Panels will include Pandemic, Protests: Programming OTT in a Remarkable Year; More Viewers, More Paths to Discovery; Ad Tech Pandemic Report Card; Creating Frictionless OTT Workflows; and Monetizing OTT: New Opportunities in a Changed World. Jean Ellen Cowgill, GM of Bloomberg QuickTake, will open the summit in a keynote interview. Christy Tanner, EVP and GM, CBS Interactive, will be the subject of the closing keynote interview.
