Evoca Airing 24-Hour 4K UHD Via 3.0

It debuts its new pay TV service — the first such subscription-based NextGen TV service — over low-power KBSE-LD and KCBB-LD in Boise, Idaho.

Evoca, a next-generation pay television service, has begun over-the-air broadcast of the 4K UHD channel, Insight TV, via ATSC 3.0.

Boise, Idaho, is the first U.S. market to experience Insight TV’s original, adventure-focused programming in 4K UHD picture quality, available 24/7 on the Evoca platform. The company is leasing two low-power ATSC 3.0 stations (KBSE-LD and KCBB-LD) for the service.

Evoca harnesses the power of ATSC 3.0 — America’s newest broadcast TV standard — to provide what it calls “unmatched audio and video clarity and a variety of quality, must-watch TV programming for less than $50 per month.” The service includes a growing lineup of high-quality, high-definition programming via proprietary receiver (called “Scout”) to access live local sports, news, weather channels as well as video-on-demand programming. An early access program launched in Boise in September and will roll out to all residents of Boise in late 2020, with additional markets to follow in 2021.

“We built Evoca for the more than 50 million U.S. households in mid-sized markets like Boise — where TV choices are limited and expensive,” said Evoca President-CEO Todd Achilles. “Since we broadcast channels like Insight TV using a mix of over-the-air and Internet sources using ATSC 3.0, subscribers can experience as many video games, movies, or video conferences as they want, and Evoca will always deliver the best picture and most reliable service. We’re excited to offer Insight TV’s rich storytelling around action sports, lifestyle and entertainment to our subscribers in stunning 4K UHD picture quality.”

Mark Romano, VP, Americas, Insight TV, said: “Insight TV is excited to be launching on Evoca’s innovative new platform. Combining NextGen TV with our 4K UHD HDR channel means consumers will get an unparalleled quality viewing experience at an affordable price. We’re delighted to be a part of Evoca’s first wave and look forward to seeing their growth around the country in the coming months,” said.
