Newsrooms faced an unprecedented barrage of breaking news and continuing stories in 2020, and the innovative ways in which they rose to the challenge — and the technologies they employed to do so — will be the focus of TVNewsCheck’s NewsTECHForum from Dec. 15 to 18.

The conference, presented virtually this year, will feature news executives tackling industry-changing dynamics in panels including Pivoting the Newsroom to Crisis and News 2022: The Reshaping of Programming, Technology and Audience. Groundbreaking video and social media reporting will be showcased and unpacked in Novel Approaches to News Storytelling Under Stress and Standing Out on Social in a Historic Year.

News technology’s rapid evolution in 2020 and its more far-reaching effects will be considered in sessions on Remote Production: From Exception to Option and Advances in IP and Cloud Workflows. Another panel will ask How Digital and Streaming Storytelling Will Evolve in 2021.

“This year will go into the books as one of the most impactful and transformational in the industry’s history, both in terms of the stakes in news storytelling and the rapid deployment of remote technologies to see it realized,” said TVNewsCheck Editor Michael Depp. “NewsTECHForum, long our essential gathering of news, technology and digital leaders, has much to explore in terms of how newsrooms met the moment and, more importantly, how it will reshape their trajectory in 2021.”

Attendees will participate in the live, daily, two-and-a-half-hour streamed sessions on Zoom Webinar, where they can pose questions to speakers, participate in live audience polling and wrap up the day with half-hour, open-mic Roundtables on key issues.
