The Freedom Broadcasting ABC affiliate in Lansing, Mich., is now airing at 6-7 p.m., moving ABC’s World News to 7 o’clock.
Freedom Broadcasting of Michigan announced today that its ABC affiliate WLAJ Lansing, Mich., will be extended to a full hour of local news coverage.
Starting Oct. 6, ABC 3 News will air at 6-7 p.m. every weekday. World News with Charles Gibson will now start at 7 p.m. and be followed by Millionaire at 7:30 p.m.
“This move reflects the lifestyle changes for our viewers, and will give them better news options throughout their evenings.” says Jim Lutton, WLAJ vice president-general manager.
WLAJ said it will be the only local newscast in the Lansing market (DMA 114) during the 6:30-7 p.m. time slot. This, the station said, “will give mid-Michigan viewers a chance to see the news that impacts them most, during a time when they want it most.”
“This is a great opportunity to showcase the WLAJ news team in a time period where Lansing area viewers will have the only opportunity to see local news and weather that affects them.” says Cathy Younkin, WLAJ news director.
