The Columbus, Ohio, NBC affil’s broadcast will advantage of interactive tools such as blogs, chats, Twitter and Facebook.
Media General’s WCMH Columbus, Ohio, NBC affiliate has redesigned @5:30 on 4, its 5:30 p.m. newscast, and will launch it next Monday, Feb. 16.
The station says that with the rise in social networking/journalism via blogs, chats, Twitter and Facebook, @5:30 on 4 “will revolve around these interactive tools to get feedback from viewers and users.
“Instead of sitting behind the anchor desk in the studio, Cabot Rea and Ellie Merritt will deliver the news and interact with viewers from the heart of the NBC 4 newsroom, in front of their computers,” WCMH said.
@5:30 on 4 will deliver news and weather in what it calls “a fast-paced and highly interactive style,” covering stories that are relevant to the people of Central Ohio and using technology to connect with them.
The broadcast will include new segments: “Cabot’s Gadgets,” an inside look at the newest hi-tech and interactive products and tools; “BlogChat,” what local bloggers are saying about big story of the day; “What You’re Saying,” Twitter and Facebook feedback from viewers and Web users; “The Hotseat,” in which decision makers in the news are asked tough questions from viewers and Web users; and a daily look at the most viewed viral videos.
