Rohde & Schwarz — Booth C 1933
Rohde & Schwarz will present its transmitter and T&M equipment under the motto “Driving Efficiency”. The focus will be on products for ATSC Mobile DTV, the new mobile TV standard, in which Rohde & Schwarz has played a major development role. The broadcasting specialist offers network operators a single-source solution including encoders, multiplexers and transmitters for entry into the mobile television market. An alternative upgrade package makes it possible to efficiently upgrade existing ATSC infrastructures for ATSC Mobile DTV services. A central component of the ATSC Mobile DTV equipment is the new R&S AEM100 multiplexer. Rohde & Schwarz will showcase its innovative solutions in the central hall, booth C1933.
Rohde & Schwarz test and measurement equipment supports the new digital broadcasting standards. The focus at NAB will be on the American ATSC Mobile DTV standard, which can be handled by both the R&S ETL TV analyzer and the R&S SFU TV test platform. This means that Rohde & Schwarz offers a full-range product portfolio for the development, production and installation of receiving and transmitting equipment. In addition, the company places emphasis on the DVB-T2 standard and the Brazilian ISDB TB standard.
By using the R&S AEM100 multiplexer system, network operators can completely upgrade their ATSC networks fast and reliably to support the new ATSC Mobile DTV standard. They can continue to use the existing infrastructure because the multiplexer is simply integrated into the current system. ATSC Mobile DTV also makes it possible to set up frequency-efficient single-frequency networks (SFN). Such networks can easily be implemented by deploying Rohde & Schwarz transmitters.
Another premiere at NAB will be the R&S SCx8000, which is currently the most compact and power-efficient transmitter in its class. This transmitter was developed for digital television, especially for digital mobile TV standards such as ATSC Mobile DTV, MediaFLOTM or DVB-H, but it is also suitable for analog TV. The compact transmitter enables operators of broadcasting and wireless communications networks to cost-efficiently set up or expand their networks.
The compact design of the transmitter is due to integrated cooling, an integrated splitter and coupler solution, and a new redundancy concept for the exciter and amplifier. The transmitter control unit is built into the exciter to save additional space. These innovative features of the R&S SCx8000 reduce infrastructure costs and cost of ownership. The transmitter can be switched from analog to digital transmission as required and is therefore ideal for transition phases. Since the power output stage comes ready with broadband precorrection for the customer’s preferred digital standard, the transmitter can be quickly put into operation after delivery.
