The syndicated entertainment magazine shows make hay with their Academy Awards coverage. In the metered market averages, ET comes out on top, while in New York The Insider is first and in Los Angeles Access Hollywood wins top honors.
CBS Television Distribution’s Entertainment Tonight was the top-rated entertainment magazine last night with its next-day coverage of the Academy Awards.
ET averaged a 5.7 rating/9 share for its primary runs in the metered markets, which was a 78% rating advantage over second-place NBCU’s Access Hollywood, which scored a 3.2/6. CBS Television Distribution’s The Insider logged a 2.6/6; Warner Bros.’ Extra notched a 2.5/5; and Warner Bros.’ TMZ tallied a 2.2/4.
In the nation’s biggest market, New York, the highest-rated magazine Monday night was The Insider, which earned a 5.4/9, its biggest rating of the season in that city, and a 26% increase from its CBS Evening News lead-in.
While in the Los Angeles market, Access Hollywood generated the biggest number with a 4.1/7, up 21% from its Extra lead-in.
