Rick Mater to head new network’s broadcast standards and Eric Cardinal will lead its research efforts.
The CW announced two executive appointments today. Rick Mater becomes senior vice president, broadcast standards; and Eric Cardinal will be senior vice president, research.
Mater will oversee the broadcast standards of all CW programming for content, including all primetime series, Kids’ WB! programming, on-air promotion, commercial clearance and development projects.
Cardinal will oversee all research for the network, including the planning, development and analysis for all audience, program, market and technical research.
Previously, Mater was senior vice president, broadcast standards at WB, overseeing the standards of all the network’s content. Before joining WB in 1995, he was manager of program standards at NBC.
Cardinal has been senior vice president, research at UPN since July 1999. Prior to joining UPN, Cardinal spent 20 years at NBC, which he first joined in 1979 as an analyst in the network’s New York research department. When he left in 1989, he was vice president, program research at NBC Entertainment.
