On March 16 the Tribune-owned CW affiliate will debut Universal Sports Television Network, a joint venture between NBC Sports and Intermedia Partners.
Tribune CW affiliate KIAH Houston (DMA 10) today announced plans to launch a 24-hour sports network on its digital broadcast tier. The Universal Sports Television Network will premiere Monday, March 16, on digital ch. 39.2.
The Universal Sports Television Network, a joint venture between NBC Sports and Intermedia Partners, offers more than 2,000 live events and over 5,000 hours of annual original event programming.
Universal Sports provides coverage of more than 40 sports. Major championships and Olympic qualifying events broadcast on Universal Sports range from track and field, swimming, skiing, gymnastics and cycling, to volleyball, karate, marathons, taekwondo and speed skating.
“We’re excited to provide the Houston market with outstanding coverage of year round Olympic style sports competition,” said KIAH VP-General Manager Roger Bare. “In addition to serving Olympics fans, Universal Sports will also be a year-round destination for the elite and everyday athlete.”
