The purveyor of Web platforms and other technology says its client-stations can now distribute news and weather clips to other Web publisher through a partnerhip with Redlasso.
In partnership with Redlasso, WorldNow is giving its local media clients an opportunity to generate extra revenue by syndicating video news and weather clips to blogs and other news-oriented Web sites.
Redlasso is a video clip syndicator, gathering clips from a variety of sources and offering them to registered users. The Redlasso platform features search and tools for integrating clips on Web sites. It makes money by packaging the clips with advertising.
WorldNow clients that choose to contribute clips to Redlasso will share in the ad revenue generated.
“The list of ways to consume video today is as long as it is varied,” says WorldNow CEO Gary Gannaway. “We’re delighted to be partnered with Redlasso as their proven technology includes features that satisfy the needs of our customers to distribute premium, branded content in a manageable way.”
The partnership works for both, says Al McGowan, CEO of Redlasso. WorldNow clients get an “immediate syndication solution,” while Redlasso gets “local professional content” to entice Web publishers.
Another benefit of the partnership is the coming release of a bi-directional workflow that will allow content acquired or produced on either the WorldNow or Redlasso platforms to be automatically available on both systems for syndication, distribution and publication.
In addition, participating WorldNow affiliates will have access to any rights-cleared content from the Redlasso library.
WorldNow clients include Cox, Dispatch, Evening Post, Fisher, Gray, Local TV, Media General, News Press & Gazette, Raycom Media, Tribune, CBS Radio and Young.
Redlasso last month announced that the Fox O&Os had agreed to syndicated content over its platform.
