The president of Meredith Broadcasting Group succeeds Barrington’s Jim Yager at this week’s meeting of NAB board in Washington. Meanwhile, radio’s Steve Newberry assumes joint board chairmanship and Janet McGregor becomes acting president and CEO in place of David Rehr, who resigned last month.
Meredith Broadcasting Group President Paul Karpowicz was unanimously elected president of the NAB Television Board at its meeting in Washington earlier this week.
Karpowicz succeeds Jim Yager, CEO of Barrington Broadcasting.
The meeting also marked the elevation of Radio Board Chairman Steve Newberry to Joint Board chairman, who heads the executive committee comprising members of the radio and TV boards. Newberry is president and CEO of Commonwealth Broadcasting Corp.
Charles Warfield, president and COO, ICBC Broadcasting Holdings, was elected to succeed Newberry as Radio Board Chairman.
The board meeting was the first since the forced resignation of NAB President-CEO David Rehr on May 6.
As expected, Janet McGregor, NAB’s COO and CFO, was officially designated acting president and CEO while a board committee conducts a search for a permanent successor to Rehr.
The search committee is headed by Bruce Reese, president and CEO, Bonneville International Corp. even though his tenure on the board ended. On Tuesday, NAB announced that it has hired search firm Russell Reynolds Associates.
