Head of KTVQ Billings, Mont., with oversight of the company’s other four Montana stations, Monty Wallis will step down on Dec. 31.
Cordillera Communications announced today that Monty Wallis, president of KTVQ Communications and vice president of Cordillera’s Montana station group will retire on Dec. 31.
Wallis joined KTVQ Billings, Mont., as local sales manager in 1987 and was named president-general manager in 1996.
In 1999, he assumed responsibility for Cordillera’s Montana TV stations that include KTVQ, KRTV Great Falls, KPAX Missoula and KXLF-KBZK Butte-Bozeman.
Prior to his television employment, Wallis spent 23 years in radio with Meyer Broadcasting Co. He is a past chairman of the Montana Broadcasters Association (MBA), former member of the CBS Affiliates Advisory Board and remains on the MBA board of directors.
Cordillera President Terry Hurley saluted Wallis for his years of service to the company and state and said: “It will be very difficult to replace Monty Wallis. Monty has a unique ability to get to what is important in any situation and is an exceptionally capable leader.”
