Fox19 Live Chat allows audience members to discuss the news live with anchors Tricia Macke and Dan Carroll during the Raycom Cincinnati station’s 10 p.m. broadcast.
Raycom Fox affiliate WXIX Cincinnati (DMA 34) has established an online franchise connecting viewers directly to its Fox19 Ten o’clock News.
Fox19 Live Chat allows audience members to discuss the news of the day live with anchors Tricia Macke and Dan Carroll during the broadcast.
“We challenge our staff everyday to find unique ways to connect with our viewers,” says WXIX Vice President/General Manager Bill Lanesey. “Tricia really took the ball and ran with this and we now have a very loyal base of chatters.”
During each newscast, viewers can access Fox19 Live Chat by logging onto www.FOX19.com.
Macke and Carroll, along with show producers and writers, chat live with viewers during breaks within the newscast. Comments from Web participants are also read on-air during later segments of the show.
“It’s a great way to get the community involved and receive instant input about the stories in our show,” Macke says. “It’s also a great way to gauge the audience and what presses their buttons. Some stories illicit an immediate response …,” she adds. Carroll agrees: “You watch the chat just light up when a story hits a nerve. There has not been a single night when it’s been slow; the comments do not stop all evening long.”
