Entravision Communications Corp. announced Friday that it launched KDCU, ch. 31, in the Wichita-Hutchinson, Kan. market (DMA 69) on Aug. 20. The station became the first full-power Univision-affiliated station serving the market, which is also the nation’s 54th-ranked Hispanic market.
In 2006, Entravision acquired the full-power television construction permit in the market in an auction held by the FCC. Entravision’s Univision-affiliated stations are consistently ranked as the number one Spanish-language television stations in their respective markets. This successful programming includes popular telenovelas, informative news programs, lifestyle shows, music, sports and comedy.
Entravision also announced a joint sales agreement with Sunflower Broadcasting Inc. (owned by Schurz Communications) to manage the marketing and sales operations of KDCU. Sunflower Broadcasting, a privately owned company, operates and manages two other stations in the market: CBS affiliate KWCH and CW affiliate KSCW.
