The Tribune CW affiliate will add a half hour to both its midday and 5 p.m. news beginning Oct. 5.
Tribune’s CW affiliate WGN Chicago (DMA 3) announced today that, starting Oct. 5, its WGN Midday News and WGN Evening News will each expand by 30 minutes.
WGN Midday News will air Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., co-anchored by Steve Sanders and Allison Payne. WGN Evening News will air Monday through Friday from 5 to 6 p.m., co-anchored by Mark Suppelsa and Lourdes Duarte.
WGN News at Nine continues to air Monday through Friday 9-10 p.m., co-anchored by Mark Suppelsa and Micah Materre. WGN’s Tom Skilling will continue to serve as chief meteorologist for all three newscasts.
“At a time when other television stations are cutting back on news, WGN-TV is proud to be devoting more programming hours to local and breaking news than any other station in Chicago,” commented Marty Wilke, the station’s VP-general manager.
