John Dawson, a management consultant to New Vision, will work alongside General Manager Al Buch at KSNW Wichita, Kan., and then take over as GM of the NBC affiliate when Buch retires at the end of the year.
New Vision Television has named John Dawson president and general manager of KSNW and its three satellite stations in the sprawling Wichita, Kan., market (DMA 69).
Dawson will be taking over for Al Buch, who after 20 years at the NBC affiliate and 50 in broadcasting is retiring at the end of 2009.
New Vision CEO Jason Elkin said Dawson and Buch will work together for the rest of the year to insure a smooth transition. “We’re fortunate to have these pros on the New Vision team. Our employees and our Kansas viewers are well served.”
Most recently, Dawson was president of his own management consulting firm in Indianapolis whose clients included New Vision Television.
His previous TV GM positions included stations in Indianapolis and Ft. Wayne, both Indiana, and Birmingham, Ala. He began his career in Birmingham as a reporter and news director.
“I am both honored and excited to lead the team of broadcast professionals Al has assembled at KSNW, said Dawson. “I look forward to helping develop multimedia marketing programs and creative customized solutions for the needs of our clients and viewers in this very competitive market.”
