National music channel THECOOLTV is now offered on the Journal Broadcast Grouop’s Milwaukee NBC affiliate.
Journal Broadcast Group’s WTMJ Milwaukee has debuted a new digital multicast channel, THECOOLTV, a national music channel in cooperation with Journal’s and WLWK-FM. The channel is broadcast on ch. 4.3 on digital-ready TVs using an antenna (those with converter boxes) and on Time Warner Cable, ch. 994.
Journal said this launch “is the first market in America where THECOOLTV has achieved multicast clearance using the marketing and distribution power of local radio, broadcast and cable television to provide this new entertainment service to linking viewers and advertisers in the Milwaukee market.”
THECOOLTV is the newest offering from Cool Music Network (CMN), a Kansas-based multi-platform entertainment company. CMN provides live event recording with on-site mastering for immediate sales of concert CDs, DVDs and memory sticks. CMN has also created a Web site for sales of its products.
In launching THECOOLTV, CMN secured videos and concert footage from major records labels including Universal Music Group, EMI Capitol, Warner Music Group and Sony BMG.
Additionally, CMN brought on thousands of specialty content providers including independent labels, artists and promoters. The digital format allows each current local station to actually broadcast a network of multicast channels.
