The Cordillera Communications’ NBC affiliate in Lexington, Ky., will offer 24/7 sports programming on a secondary digital channel.
Cordillera Communications’ NBC affiliate WLEX Lexington, Ky. (DMA 62), has formed a new partnership with Wazoo Sports Network (WSN) to provide 24/7 sports programming on its secondary digital channel 18.2.
Known as WZLEX, this new channel will feature live high school and college sporting events from around the state, as well as classic University of Kentucky basketball and football games from 1951 to the present. WZLEX will also carry programming from WLEX, including coverage of the Kentucky Derby and the World Equestrian Games in 2010.
“We’re proud to offer this new channel to Central Kentucky,” says Pat Dalbey, president-GM of WLEX. “Our new partnership with Wazoo Sports is an extension of the community service legacy that WLEX has created with over 50 years of broadcasting to the Bluegrass Region.”
The Wazoo Sports Network is a Kentucky-based, 24/7 sports programming service. High school football games are presented live every Friday night during the fall, while both boys and girls high school basketball games air live on the network during the winter months. Coaches shows, game replays, and a variety of other sports-related programming will all be presented on WZLEX.
