The Hearst CBS affiliate in Des Moines, Iowa, has added Local Voices to its Web site, featuring opinions from 15 people on topics including movies, the arts, music and local politics.
KCCI, Hearst Television’s CBS affiliate in Des Moines, Iowa (DMA 72) is now offering commentary from a mix of people in the community on its website, KCCI.com.
The new section, called Local Voices, features 15 different people who offer their unique perspective on life in Central Iowa. They will write about a variety of topics, including movies, the arts, music and local politics.
Political commentary will be provided by Matt Paul, a longtime Democratic strategist; and Bob Haus, who works on Republican political campaigns.
The growing world of central Iowa music will be covered by Jason Walsmith, co-founder of the popular band The Nadas.
Carl Voss will write about a variety of topics, including living in the East Village and the world of bicycling.
“KCCI.com does a great job providing Central Iowans with the facts about news, weather and sports,” says KCCI News Director Dave Busiek. “We wanted to grow that and get some meaningful commentary online about the experience of living in Central Iowa,” he adds. “I anticipate we’ll get some good arguments going about political matters, while also learning a lot about music and culture.”
Busiek said he plans to expand the list of Local Voices as the new project gains steam.
