The Sinclair San Antonio station affiliation change is effectively immediately. It’s rebranding as The CW 35. Former CW affil KCWX is now home to MNT.
Sinclair Broadcast Group and The CW have reached a new affiliation agreement, effective immediately, for KMYS San Antonio, Texas. This brings the number of CW affiliated television stations that Sinclair owns or operates to 10, making it one of CW’s largest affiliation groups in the country.
Timed for the start of the new fall season, the station will rebrand itself The CW 35 (formerly My 35 TV). MNT, meanwhile, will now be seen in the market on Corridor TV’s KCWX, the previous CW affil.
KMYS will also feature weekly syndicated shows including. Swift Justice with Nancy Grace, Access Hollywood, TMZ, The Office, How I Met Your Mother and The New Adventures of Old Christine.
“The CW and Sinclair have enjoyed a long and successful relationship through our affiliated stations across the country, and now we’re thrilled to extend our partnership into San Antonio,” said Elizabeth Tumulty, EVP, distribution, The CW. “Through the hard work of general manager John Seabers and his team, The new CW 35 offers viewers a great mix of local programming, top syndicated product and full market distribution and we’re proud to have them as part of The CW.”
John Seabers, General Manager of KMYS and co-owned KABB (Fox), commented: “We are very excited to be partnering with the CW Network which has their hand on the pulse of the young, upwardly mobile viewers. We feel it is the perfect compliment to its sister station, Fox San Antonio, for delivering unique programming designed for the broadest-based appeal.”
