Harlingen-Weslaco-Brownsville-McAllen viewers can now watch high-def nightly local newscasts on KNVO (Univision) and XRIO (Fox).
Entravision Communications Corp. today announced that it is rolling out high-definition newscasts in the Harlingen-Weslaco-Brownsville-McAllen, Texas, market (DMA 87) on its Univision and Fox affiliates, KNVO and XRIO, respectively.
KNVO now features two weekday Spanish-language newscasts at 5 and 10 p.m., anchored by Octavio Saenz and Marianela Aguirre. Hugo Magallan anchors the weekend 5 and 10 p.m. newscasts.
“Our local newcasts are the No. 1- or 2-ranked news programs in their markets, regardless of language,” said Joel Olivarez, General Manager of Entravision Communications Corporation’s Spanish-language television stations in the McAllen market. “Broadcasting in HD gives us an opportunity to provide the highest quality video possible, bringing the newscast experience to a whole new level for our growing number of viewers, and helps Entravision extend its leadership position in this market even further. The fact you can watch our in-depth news broadcasts free over-the-air or through a cable, satellite or telecom provider heading into the key election period is another added bonus for our audience.”
