Catherine Herkovic promoted from senior VP of sales and marketing for the Nielsen Station Index. She succeeds Jack Oken.
Catherine Herkovic, an executive with more than 22 years experience in local television measurement, was named general manager in charge of the Local Business Unit of Nielsen Media Research.
As the general manager, Herkovic is responsible for sales and marketing, production and delivery of data to local clients, product services, information technology and quality assurance for the local business. Herkovic reports to Susan D. Whiting, president and chief executive officer of Nielsen Media Research, and is based in the company’s New York headquarters.
Herkovic succeeds Jack Oken, who takes on a new, expanded role at Nielsen Media Research as general manager, strategic measurement Initiatives. Oken continues to be based in New York and reports to Whiting.
Before taking over day-to-day responsibility for the Local Business Unit, Herkovic was senior vice president in charge of sales and marketing for the Nielsen Station Index (NSI), the local television station measurement service first started by Nielsen in 1954. Herkovic has been with NSI since 1984. She started as a research analyst, and then went on to join the NSI sales team in New York. In 1992 Herkovic was promoted to group account manager in the Northeast. A year later, she became vice president, regional manager of the NSI San Francisco office in charge of the Northwest. In 1997 she became vice president and Western sales manager responsible for NSI offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco. In 1999, Herkovic relocated back to her native New York to become senior vice president, sales and marketing.
