The Hartford, Conn., CBS affiliate’s weekday newscasts at noon and 6 p.m. will be available to listeners of two area AM stations.
Meredith Corp.’s CBS affiliate WFSB Hartford, Conn. (DMA 30), has teamed up with WLIS-AM and WMRD-AM to simulcast WFSB’s noon and 6 p.m. weekday Eyewitness News broadcasts.
The station said the move will let “those who are not at home in front of the TV at those times to get the latest breaking news and weather on a daily basis. This service will also be invaluable during widespread or extended power outages, like those we had during Tropical Storm Irene and Winter Storm Albert.”
“We are pleased to provide Eyewitness News to the listeners of WLIS and WMRD” said WFSB VP-GM Klarn DePalma. “We understand how important it is to get vital news and weather to the people of Connecticut. This is just another way we can reach our viewers and we are proud to work with the folks at WMRD and WLIS to make it happen.”
Added Don DeCesare, President and General Manager of WLIS and WMRD, “This partnership further underscores our commitment to the best local news and information coverage for our listeners in Central and Eastern Connecticut.”
