The TV news executive returns to San Francisco after holding the top news post at KFSN Fresno since 2006.
Tracey Watkowski has been appointed vice president of news at ABC O&O KGO San Francisco (DMA 6) with overall responsibility for news coverage, long-term planning and news staff management across the station’s broadcast and other media platforms. Her promotion is effective March 28.
Most recently news director of ABC O&O KFSN Fresno, Calif., Watkowski earlier in her career was KGO’s assistant news director.
As News Director for KFSN since 2006, Watkowski led the news department that earned “Best Newscast” Emmy Awards for five consecutive years from the Northern California branch of National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. In addition to overseeing and expanding KFSN broadcast news coverage, she played a key role in extending the station’s local leadership through its website and various social media.
Watkowski has also been an executive producer and newscast producer at WCAU Philadelphia; a news producer at WKRC Cincinnati; and an associate producer at CNN Headline News in Atlanta.
Watkowski earned a Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism, magna cum laude, from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
