The Scripps West Palm Beach operation brings in the former news director of Gannett’s Jacksonville duo to succeed Jeff Brogan.
E.W. Scripps announced today that Michael Garber will be the next news director of its WPTV (NBC) and WFLX (Fox) West Palm Beach, Fla. (DMA 38), effective May 29. While Scripps doesn’t own WFLX, it provides news and other services to it under a shared services agreement with Raycom. He succeeds Jeff Brogan who has become senior director of news strategy and operations at Scripps in Cincinnati.
For the past four years, Garber has been the news director of Gannett’s WTLV- WJXX “First Coast News” operation in Jacksonville, Fla.
Prior to Jacksonville, Garber spent more than five years as news director of Gannett’s WLTX Columbia, S.C. He has also been assistant news director of KGUN Tucson, Ariz., and as a sports producer and director at KPIX San Francisco and WFTS Tampa, Fla.
Garber went to the University of South Florida there where he earned a degree in English.
