Broadcasters’ Foundation is accepting contributions in the name of the well-known, former CBS executive who died Aug. 24. The fund will be used for broadcasters in need.
Malara was a supporter of the foundation and was on the board at the time of his death.
Foundation President Gordon Hastings said the Malara fund was created with the blessing of his family and that money raised would become part of the foundation endowment, which is used exclusively for direct grants to broadcasters in financial need.
“Tony Malara lived his belief that the broadcasting profession was of a high calling,” said Hastings. “The terms “steward” and “stewardship” stand out when reflecting upon Tony’s personal and professional place in his universe. He is defined by his kindness and empathy. Tony always made a difference.”
Those wishing to make a tax-deductible contribution should send a check to the foundation and note that it is for the Anthony C. Malara Memorial Fund. The address: 7 Lincoln Avenue, Greenwich, Conn., 06830.
