Smith Media’s KEYT, the ABC affiliate for Santa Barbara, Calif., has won an FCC ruling that Time Warner must carry its HD signal on systems where TWC has only been carrying the station’s analog signal.
The FCC Media Bureau has sided with Smith Media’s KEYT Santa Barbara, Calif., in its must-carry dispute with Time Warner Cable, ordering the cable operator to carry the ABC affiliate’s HD signal in western Ventura County communications of Ojai, Oxnard, Santa Paula, Camarillo, and Ventura.
Time Warner had resisted carrying the HD feed, arguing that Smith had elected retransmission consent in Ventura County and was so was not entitled to must carry for its HD there. Time Warner has been carrying the SD feed in the disputed area.
Earlier this month, Smith agreed to sell the KEYT to News-Press & Gazette for $14.3 million.
