CBS veteran Tom Canedo makes the move from Atlanta to Detroit as his predecessor moves from Detroit to Atlanta.
CBS Television Stations president Peter Dunn has appointed Tom Canedo as vice president and general manager of the group’s Detroit properties, CBS outlet WWJ and WKBD, which carries The CW.
Canedo succeeds Trey Fabacher, who recently became VP-GM of Meredith’s WGCL, the CBS affiliate in Atlanta. As it happens, Canedo is coming to Detroit from Atlanta, where he was VP-GM of CBS-owned WUPA, The CW outlet.
“This is an exciting time to be moving my family to Detroit – and not just because the Tigers are in the World Series,” Canedo said in a company news release. “This is a market with great upside potential.”
Canedo has more than 20 years of local television experience. Prior to joining WUPA in 1999, he spent five years as an account executive with WGCL. His career began in syndication sales with Columbia TriStar Television Distribution in Chicago.
