The Broadcasters’ Foundation is gathering the many friends of the late Tony Malara for a “tribute” to him in New York City on Sept. 26.
“We celebrate the gift of Tony Malara, his spirit and his sense of humor,” said Foundation Chairman Philip Lombardo.
A longtime CBS executive, Malara died suddenly on Aug. 24 after a heart attack.
He served as a director and member of the executive committee of the Broadcasters’ Foundation of America for more 20 years and supported its mission of helping broadcasters in financial need.
Scheduled to speak: former New York governor Mario Cuomo, CBS’s Charles Osgood, New York State Broadcasters President Joe Reilly, former CBS Television President Jim Rosenfield and Tony’s son Toby.
The tribute is set for 8:15 a.m. at the 21 Club (21 West 52nd St.). Seating is limited. Persons wishing to attend should contact Foundation President Gordon Hastings at 203-862-8577 to make reservations.
