Nexstar Names Tom O’Brien EVP Digital Media

The former WNBC president and general manager will report to Nexstar CEO Perry Sook and help the group expand its offerings and enhance its user platforms and multiplatform integration. "Tom brings outstanding leadership and entrepreneurial skills to Nexstar, and I look forward to working directly with him as our new reporting structure is intended to allow us to take a more holistic approach to business and revenue development," says Sook.

Nexstar Broadcasting named former WNBC president and GM Thomas O’Brien its new EVP digital media and chief revenue. O’Brien will report directly to Nexstar Chairman and CEO Perry Sook.

“Tom’s extensive digital media and marketing experience and successes at NBC in developing and implementing multi-platform growth strategies will expand our offerings and enhance our user platforms and multi-platform integration,” Sook said in a statement. “Tom brings outstanding leadership and entrepreneurial skills to Nexstar and I look forward to working directly with him as our new reporting structure is intended to allow us to take a more holistic approach to business and revenue development.”

Prior to joining Nexstar, O’Brien worked at NBC for 14 years, most recently as EVP and chief revenue officer for CNBC, where he was responsible for overall leadership of the company’s TV network, digital, international ad sales and sales marketing teams. Before CNBC, O’Brien spent 12 years as president and GM in the NBC Television Stations Division. He was appointed president and GM of WNBC in 2008.

In addition to O’Brien appointment, Nexstar said Marc Montoya, SVP internet media sales and operations, left the company to pursue other opportunities.
