That’s the strongest finish ever by a Spanish-language station in the market. Only WABC’s Eyewitness News did better.
For the first time since the implementation of Local People Meters (LPM) by Nielsen, Univision’s WXTV New York’s 6 p.m. weekday local news, Noticias Univision 41 (Univision 41 News) has finished second in the October survey period in each of the key audience groups: adults 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.
During the October 2006 survey (Sept. 28-Oct. 25) the 6 p.m. weekday Noticias Univision 41 was watched by an average 52,000 viewers aged 18-34, 158,000 viewers 18-49 and 161,000 viewers 25-54. In rating points that’s a 1.2/6 Nielsen Station Index (NSI) LPM rating/share, a 1.7/8, and a 1.9/8 in the three key audience groups, respectively.
On a year to year basis, WXTV said, the Noticias Univision 41 audience is up 79% among 18-34s, 33% among 18-49s and 12% among 25-54s.
Noticias Univision 41 beat competing news programs on CBS’s WCBS, NBC’s WNBC and Fox’s WNYW as well as the Spanish-language newscast on Telemundo’s WNJU. Only the 6 p.m. news on ABC’s WABC had more viewers than Noticias Univision 41. Its Eyewitness News was seen by 55,000 viewers 18-34, 169,000 18-49 and 217,000 25-54.
