Group broadcaster Griffin Communications, whose portfolio includes CBS affiliate KWTV Oklahoma City, is buying the market’s MNT affiliate KSBI from Family Broadcasting LLC. The price was not disclosed.
“We are excited to add KSBI to our group of companies,” Griffin Communications Chairman-CEO David Griffin said. “Our goal will be to integrate KSBI with our current operations while looking for ways to improve KSBI’s programming.”
Griffin continued: “Adding KSBI to our company will allow us to expand our service to central and western Oklahoma by creating a duopoly with News 9 like we have done in Tulsa with News On 6 and The Tulsa CW,” Griffin said. He said the new station would allow the company to shift regular programming during severe weather coverage or continuous news coverage. The sale will close after regulatory approval, which is anticipated by year’s end.
